obtains CAPS approval for SecureDoc, WinMagic's disk encryption
product

plc, today announced that it has secured CAPS baseline approval
for SecureDocTM, WinMagic's highly certified disk encryption product.
This follows an extensive evaluation by CESG, the United Kingdom
National Technical Authority for Information Security. Intercede
is the sole distributor of CAPS Approved SecureDoc to all Her
Majesty's Government (HMG) and UK Ministry of Defence customers.
SecureDoc
for HMG - Disk Encryption
SecureDoc for HMG is a software based, full disk encryption product
for PCs and Laptops running Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
Using SecureDoc
for HMG, the hard disk is fully encrypted using the AES algorithm,
implemented before the operating system is loaded to provide pre-boot
protection. Boot time authentication is via CESG FIREGUARD password,
or the combination of FIREGUARD password and cryptographic token
(smart card or USB key). Once authenticated, SecureDoc is transparent
to the user, all data written to the disk or read from the disk
is automatically encrypted. SecureDoc's unique key file system
enables multiple user access to the PC, a dual-boot capability
providing access to separate operating systems under different
keys and per-user disk access control, with each user having their
own unique password.
SecureDoc
has also achieved validations for Common Criteria and FIPS 140-1
level 2 validation. The SecureDoc FORTEZZA-based version is the
ONLY disk encryption software certified by the National Standards
Association (NSA) to safeguard US Government SECRET information.
